About Maria
Maria is an Artist and Glass Blower based in Nottingham
Maria Badshamiah is a contemporary glass artist whose work is inspired by the belief that art has the power to transform not only spaces, but lives.

Living with dyspraxia, Maria has experienced first-hand how environments, light and sensory stimulation can influence wellbeing. Rather than allowing her diagnosis to define her, it became the inspiration behind a collection of handcrafted sensory glass lamps designed to create moments of calm, comfort and connection.
​
Each piece is individually handcrafted using traditional glassmaking techniques, combining artistic craftsmanship with purposeful design. Through the interplay of colour, texture and light, Maria's creations are intended to provide a soothing sensory experience, offering gentle visual stimulation that can support relaxation, mindfulness and emotional wellbeing.

Driven by a passion for inclusivity, Maria hopes her work will make a meaningful difference to people of all ages, particularly those with additional sensory needs, neurodiverse conditions or anyone seeking moments of tranquillity in an increasingly busy world.

Her vision is simple: to create beautiful, functional works of art that inspire calm, celebrate individuality and demonstrate how creativity can become a powerful tool for wellbeing.

Each glass lamp that Maria makes is unique and individually crafted with care & attention to detail. Some of her lamps are specifically designed to appeal to customers suffering with neurodiversity issues. Her research is ongoing into creating lamps specifically to target the wellness, wellbeing industry, and the medical sector.

I recently attended a private viewing of Maria’s glass lamps, and they are truly breathtaking.
Each piece transforms the atmosphere of a space… the light becomes softer, calmer, and feels almost alive. As a yoga teacher, I immediately imagined these lamps in my future studio.
